The Toronto Argonauts won their final home game of the 2024 Canadian Football League regular season on Saturday. At the Bank of Montreal Field in Toronto, Ontario, it was quite the game for Argonauts wide receiver Dejon Brissett of Mississauga, Ontario in a 38-31 Toronto win over the Ottawa Redblacks.

Brissett had touchdown catches of 29 yards and 10 yards from Argonauts quarterback Chad Kelly. The 29-yard major converted score came 13 seconds into the second quarter, and put the Argonauts up 21-0 at the time. Brisset’s second converted touchdown came one minute and 47 seconds left in the third quarter, and put the Argonauts up 38-6. The Redblacks actually outscored the Argonauts 25-0 in the fourth quarter, to pull the score within a touchdown. But it was too little, too late.

Brissett finished the game with five catches for 67 receiving yards. For the season, he has 13 catches for 165 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

This was the second time in Brissett’s career he had two touchdowns in a game. He also accomplished the feat in a 29-14 Argonauts win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on September 23, 2023.

With the win, the Argonauts clinched second place in the East Division. They will next host the Redblacks in the East Division semifinal on November 2, with the winner facing the Montreal Alouettes in the East Division final on November 9.

In the West Division, first place is still up for grabs. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers can finish first with a win over the Montreal Alouettes on Saturday. The Roughriders can clinch first in the division with a win over the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday, and a Montreal win over Winnipeg. The British Columbia Lions are in third place, and will play the second place team in the West Division semifinal.
