
Los Angeles Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was named the National Hockey League First Star of the Week on Monday. In three games from March 10 to 16, 2025, Kuemper was sensational in between the posts for the Kings. He won all three games and only gave up one goal in that time.
Kuemper made 33 saves on 34 shots on March 11 in a 4-1 Kings win over the New York Islanders. That was followed by back to back shutout wins over the Washington Capitals and Nashville Predators. Kuemper made 21 saves in a 3-0 Kings win over the Capitals on Thursday, and 24 saves in a 1-0 Kings overtime win over the Predators on Saturday. In all, Kuemper had a goals against average of 0.33 and a save percentage of .987 as he made 78 saves on 79 shots.
For the season, Kuemper has a record of 22 wins, nine regulation losses and seven losses in extra time. He has four shutouts with a goals against average of 2.16 and a save percentage of .917.
The Kings are currently in third place in the Pacific Division. With a record of 36 wins, 21 regulation losses and nine losses in extra time, they have 81 points. The Kings are five points back of the first place Vegas Golden Knights and one point back of the second place Edmonton Oilers.
