
The New York Sirens have been eliminated from the Professional Women’s Hockey League playoffs, but Sirens goaltender Corrine Schroeder has had a sensational month of April. Schroeder has played in two games, and has registered two shutouts. She has stopped all 49 shots and now has four shutouts for the season.
Schroeder made 16 saves in 1-0 Sirens win over the Montreal Victoire on April 1. She made four saves in the first period, five saves in the second period, and seven saves in the third period. Jade Downie-Landry of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec scored the only goal of the game with 12 seconds left in the first period.
Then on Sunday, Schroeder made 33 saves in a 2-0 Sires win over the Minnesota Frost. She made 17 saves in the first period, seven saves in the second period. and nine saves in the third period.
For the season, Schroeder now has a record of 10 wins, eight regulation losses, and two losses in extra time. She has a goals against average of 2.40 and a save percentage of .919. Schroeder’s first shutout of the season came on January 4 in a 5-0 Sirens win over the Frost, and her second shutout of the season came on January 12 in a 1-0 Sirens win over the Toronto Sceptres.
