Corey Conners of Listowel, Ontario has a chance to win his second Valero Texas Open title of his career. On Saturday in San Antonio, Texas, Conners moved to -11 and is one stroke back of Patrick Rodgers of Avon, Indiana.

Conners shot a score of three-under-par 69 in round three. He had seven birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey. Conners birdied the fifth, eighth, 11th, 12th, 14th, 15th and 17th holes. He bogeyed the ninth and 16th holes, and had a double bogey on the sixth hole. The fact that Conners had six birdies after a double bogey was very impressive as he was able to rebound very nicely and move even closer to Rodgers than when he started the day.

There is one other golfer in contention. That is Matt Kuchar of Winter Park, Florida, who is all alone in third place at -9. Kuchar is three strokes back of Rodgers and two strokes back of Conners. Kuchar has nine wins on the PGA Tour, including the 2012 Players Championship, and 2013 World Matchplay Championship, but has not won since 2019.

Conners’s previous Valero Texas Open title was his only win on the PGA Tour to date. It came in 2019 as he beat American Charley Hoffman by two strokes.
