Corey Conners in contention at the 2022 BMW Championships

Corey Conners of Listowel, Ontario is in contention at the 2022 BMW Championship in Wilmington, Delaware. On Friday, Conners shot a round of four-under par 67, and has a two-round score of -7.  He currently sits tied for second place.

The leader is Adam Scott of Adelaide, Australia, who is at -8. The 2013 Masters champion is looking for his first PGA Tour win in over two years.

There are 14 other golfers in contention. Tied for second place with Conners is 2022 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey, three-time major champion Jordan Spieth of Dallas, Texas (2015 Masters, 2015 United States Open and 2017 British Open), and Cameron Young of Scarborough, New York.

Those at -6 and two strokes back are Americans Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, and Scott Stallings, Australia’s Cameron Davis and Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy. Of the five, there is one major champion, and that is McIlroy. A four-time major champion, McIlroy previously won the 2011 United States Open, the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championship and 2014 British Open.

Those at -5 and three strokes back are Americans Kurt Kitayama, Aaron Wise, and Harold Varner III, Ireland’s Shane Lowry, Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, and Chile’s Joaquin Niemann. Of these six, there are two major champions. Lowry won the 2019 British Open and Matsuyama won the 2021 Masters.
