One of the the biggest upsets of the weekend was the fact that the Carolina Panthers beat the Arizona Cardinals 36-30. A major reason why the Panthers won the game as a four point underdog was because of the play of running back Chuba Hubbard of Edmonton, Alberta. With the loss, Arizona was eliminated from the playoffs.

Hubbard scored two touchdowns as he opened the scoring and closed the scoring. He had a four yard rush for a major with four minutes and 55 seconds left in the first quarter, and then won the game with a 21 yard rush with three minutes and 18 seconds left in overtime.

In 66 minutes and 42 seconds worth of action, Hubbard had 25 rushes for 152 rushing yards and two touchdowns, along with four catches for 13 receiving yards. The 165 total yards were the third most total yards he has had in a game in his career. Hubbard had 169 total yards in a 36-22 Panthers win over the Las Vegas Raiders on September 22, and again in a 20-17 Panthers win over the New York Giants on November 10.

This was also the third time in Hubbard’s career he has recorded two touchdowns in a game. He accomplished the feat in a 21-18 Panthers loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 3, 2023, and in a 23-22 Panthers win over the New Orleans Saints on November 3, 2024.
