Chuba Hubbard scores two touchdowns as Panthers beat the Saints

Chuba Hubbard of Edmonton, Alberta collected two touchdowns in a game for only the second time in his National Football League career on Sunday. He accomplished the feat in a 23-22 Carolina Panthers win over the New Orleans Saints.

Hubbard’s first touchdown was for one yard and came nine minutes and 55 seconds left in the third quarter. At the time, the Panthers took the 17-13 lead. Then, with two minutes and 18 seconds left in the game, Hubbard had a 16 yard touchdown run to give the Panthers a 23-22 win. Hubbard’s first two-touchdown game came on December 3, 2023 in a 21-18 Panthers loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In 2024, Hubbard has 133 rushes for 665 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. He also has 26 catches for 108 receiving yards and another major score. Hubbard’s six total touchdowns ties a career high from his 2021 rookie season. Hubbard’s five rushing touchdowns tied a career-high from the 2021 and 2023 NFL seasons.

Overall, it has been a tough season for the Panthers. They have a record of two wins and seven losses, and are tied with the Saints for last place in the NFC South. In the Panthers’s only other win this season, Hubbard had 21 rushes for 114 rushing yards, and five catches for 55 receiving yards and one touchdown in a 36-22 Panthers win over the Las Vegas Raiders on September 22.
