The Chicoutimi Sagueneens have qualified for the semifinals of the 2026 Memorial Cup in Kelowna, British Columbia on Friday. The Sagueneens clinched third place after the round robin standings when the Everett Silvertips defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-0 on Wednesday night at Kelowna’s Prospera Place. The loss for the Rockets means they have been eliminated from the Memorial Cup.

The Sagueneens reached the semifinal by only winning one game in the round robin. That came on Sunday when they beat the Rockets 3-2 in overtime on a game-winning goal by Liam Lefebvre of Montreal, Quebec.

On Wednesday, the Silvertips also qualified for the semifinals with the shutout victory. Anders Miller recorded the shutout for Everett as he made 28 saves. Offensively, defenseman Kayd Ruedig of Humboldt, Saskatchewan led the Silvertips in scoring as he had a multi-point game (one goal and one assist for two points). Two more Canadians scored for Everett. They were Carter Bear of Winnipeg, Manitoba and defenseman Jaxon Pisani of Sturgeon County, Alberta.

Carter Bear and Jaxon Pisani have National Hockey League connections. Carter Bear is the cousin of former Edmonton Oiler and Vancouver Canuck defenseman Ethan Bear of Regina, Saskatchewan. Jaxon Pisani is the son of former Edmonton Oiler Fernando Pisani of Edmonton, Alberta.

On Friday, the Sagueneens are facing the Silvertips. The winner will face the Kitchener Rangers on Sunday.
