The Chicoutimi Sagueneens now lead the Moncton Wildcats three games to two in the 2026 Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League Final. What we saw on Friday was a comeback for the ages, and that is why the Sagueneens are only one win away from advancing to the 2026 Memorial Cup in Kelowna, British Columbia.
The Sagueneens were trailing the Wildcats by a score of 4-0, before they scored seven of the next eight goals en route to a dramatic 7-6 victory. Chicoutimi then can close out the series Sunday at home. If not, the series returns to Moncton for a seventh and deciding game on Tuesday.
The Chicoutimi offensive hero in the game was defenseman Peteris Bulans, who had three goals and one assist for four points. The other Chicoutimi goal scorers were Liam Lefebvre of Montreal, Quebec, Nathan Lecompte of Chateauguay, Quebec, Mavrick Lachance of Lac-Megantic, Quebec and Maxim Schafer.
Chicoutimi’s first goal did not come until four minutes and 28 seconds left in the second period. They then scored five goals in a span of seven minutes and 36 seconds in the third period.
The other three spots have been booked to the Memorial Cup. The other participants are the Kelowna Rockets, Kitchener Rangers and Everett Silvertips.
