
Charles Paquet of Sept-Iles, Quebec won the bronze medal at a World Triathlon Championship Series event in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on Saturday. For Paquet, it was his first ever medal at the World Triathlon Championship Series. He previously won a bronze medal in a World Cup event in Brasilia, Brazil on October 15, 2023.
In Uzbekistan on Saturday, Paquet had a time of one hour, 43 minutes and 41 seconds. Vasco Vilaca of Portugal won the gold medal with a time of one hour, 43 minutes and 33 seconds, and Henry Graf of Germany won the silver medal with a time of one hour, 43 minutes and 37 seconds. Paquet reached the podium by six seconds. Csongor Lehmann of Hungary finished in fourth place with a time of one hour, 43 minutes and 47 seconds.
Paquet had the 16th fastest swim of 18 minutes and three seconds. He then had the 12th fastest transition from the water to the bike at 29 seconds, the ninth fastest cycling time of 54 minutes and 25 seconds, the 22nd fastest transition time from the bike to the run of 29 seconds, and the fifth fastest run of 30 minutes and 17 seconds.
This was the first World Triathlon Championship Series event of the season. The bronze medal for Paquet will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
