
Carter Hart of Edmonton, Alberta recorded his fifth career National Hockey League shutout on Saturday. He made 29 saves as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Detroit Red Wings 3-0 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Hart made eight saves in the first period, eight saves in the second period, and 13 saves in the third period. Reigning Calder Trophy winner Moritz Seider led the Red Wings with six shots on goal.
Scott Laughton of Oakville, Ontario led the Flyers in scoring with one goal and one assist for two points. The other Flyers goal scorers were Tyson Foerster of Alliston, Ontario, and Kieffer Bellows.
This was Hart’s second shutout this season. The other came on January 28 in a 4-0 Flyers win over the Winnipeg Jets. Hart’s three prior shutouts came in a 4-0 Flyers win over the New Jersey Devils on October 9, 2019, in a 3-0 Flyers win over the Buffalo Sabres on February 28, 2021, and in a 3-0 Flyers win over the Arizona Coyotes on March 25, 2023.
In 2022-23, Hart has a record of 21 wins, 12 regulation losses and 10 losses in extra time. He has a goals against average of 2.90 and a save percentage of .909.
The Flyers have now won three straight games. They also beat the the Florida Panthers 6-3 on Tuesday, and then the Minnesota Wild 5-4 in overtime on Thursday.
