Canada wins Women’s 3×3 Basketball Series Final in Mongolia

Team Canada won the gold medal on Sunday in the Women’s 3×3 Basketball Series Final in Ulanbaatar, Mongolia. In the gold medal game, Canada defeated France 16-15. The Canadian team was comprised of Michelle Plouffe and Katherine Plouffe of Edmonton, Alberta, Paige Crozon of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, and Kacie Bosch of Lethbridge, Alberta.

It was an outstanding final for Katherine Plouffe. She had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the impressive double double. She also had four key assists to lead Canada.

Team Canada went through the Women’s 3×3 Basketball Series Final undefeated. In Pool A action, Canada defeated the host Mongolia 22-17 on Saturday. They also beat France 16-14 and Germany 21-13. Then in the semifinals, Canada beat the United States 21-12.

In Canada’s win over Mongolia, Crozon led Canada with seven points. Michelle Plouffe led Canada with four rebounds. Michelle Plouffe, Crozon and Bosch led Canada with two key assists. In Canada’s Pool win over France, Michelle Plouffe led Canada with nine points. Katherine Plouffe led Canada with eight rebounds. Katherine Plouffe, Michelle Plouffe and Crozon led Canada with one key assist. In Canada’s win over Germany, Michelle Plouffe led Canada with 11 points and six rebounds.  Katherine Plouffe led Canada with four key assists. In Canada’s win over the United States, Crozon led Canada with 10 points. Katherine Plouffe led Canada with seven rebounds. Katherine Plouffe and Bosch led Canada with two key assists. The gold medal in Mongolia will give Canada confidence as they prepare for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
