Canada wins Women’s 3×3 Basketball gold in Saskatoon

Team Canada won the gold medal in a Women’s 3×3 Basketball World Series event in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Sunday. In the gold medal game, Canada defeated the silver medalist United States 21-7.

On Saturday, Canada won all three of their Pool A games. They defeated Germany 16-6, Puerto Rico 21-11, and Singapore 21-8. On Sunday, Canada beat the bronze medalist Czech Republic 21-7 in the semifinals. Germany won the other bronze medal.

In Canada’s win over Germany, Michelle Plouffe of Edmonton, Alberta led Canada with eight points. Kacie Bosch of Lethbridge, Alberta led Canada with nine rebounds, even though she is Canada’s shortest player at 5’7″. Katherine Plouffe of Edmonton led Canada with three key assists.

In Canada’s win over Puerto Rico, Paige Crozon of Humboldt, Saskatchewan led Canada with nine points. Katherine Plouffe led Canada with five rebounds. Michelle Plouffe led Canada with three key assists.

In Canada’s won over Singapore, Katherine Plouffe led Canada with nine points. Crozon led Canada with seven rebounds and four key assists.

In Canada’s win over the Czech Republic, Katherine Plouffe led Canada with seven points and eight rebounds. Bosch led Canada with four key assists.

In Canada’s win over the United States, Crozon led Canada with eight points. Katherine Plouffe led Canada with three rebounds. Michelle Plouffe of Edmonton led Canada with two key assists.

Canada is in second place in the FIBA Women’s 3×3 Basketball Tour Standings with 510 points. The Netherlands lead with 560 points.
