Canada wins two synchronized medals at Diving World Cup in Windsor

Team Canada won two medals on Saturday in a Diving World Cup in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on Saturday, In the women’s three metre synchronized springboard event, Sonya Palkhivala of Pointe-Claire, Quebec and Amelie-Laura Jasmin of Montreal, Quebec won the silver medal. In the men’s 10 metre synchronized platform event, Matt Cullen of Rosemere, Quebec and Benjamin Tessier of Laval, Quebec won the bronze medal.

Palkhivala and Jasmin had five dives that recorded a total score of 276.3 points. Yiwen Chen and Yani Chang of China won the gold medal with a total score of 312.54 points. Maddison Keeney and Alysha Koloi of Australia won the bronze medal with a total score of 275.4 points. Palkhivala and Jasmin reached the podium by 1.89 points over Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper of Great Britain, who had a fourth place score of 274.41.

Cullen and Tessier had six dives that recorded a total score of 381.15. Zilong Cheng and Zifeng Zhu of China won the gold medal with a total score of 437.25. Joshua Hedberg and Carson Tyler of the United States won the silver medal with a total score of 387.9 points. Cullen and Tessier reached the podium by 1.11 points, Espen Prenzyna and Ole Johannes Rosler of Germany finished in fourth place with 380.04 points.

In the women’s three metre synchronized springboard diving rankings, Canada is in fourth place with 25 points. They are behind China (60 points), Australia (40 points), and Mexico (34 points).  In the men’s 10 metre synchronized platform diving rankings, Canada is in fourth place with 28 points. They are behind China (60 points), the United States (35 points), and Mexico (33 points). The medals for Palkhivala, Jasmin, Cullen, and Tessier will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
