This was the 10th time in the history of the Women’s World Hockey Championship that Canada won the silver medal. In the gold medal game, the Canadian goal scorers were Danielle Serdachny of Edmonton, Alberta, Jennifer Gardiner of Surrey, British Columbia, and Sarah Fillier of Georgetown, Ontario. After the United States won gold, Marie-Philip Poulin of Beauceville, Quebec was named the tournament’s most valuable player despite the fact Canada did not win the gold medal. Poulin led the tournament in scoring with 12 points (four goals and eight assists).
