Team Canada is in the women’s flag football competition at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. On Saturday, Team Canada won their quarterfinal game and semifinal game of the 2026 World Flag Football Championships in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Canada qualified to the Olympic Games by being one of the top two teams at the World Championships. If they defeat the United States on Sunday, they will be the world champion. Due to the fact the United States are in the championship final, the winner of the bronze medal game between Mexico and Great Britain will go to the Olympic Games too.
In the quarterfinals, Canada defeated Austria 40-12. Canadian quarterback Sara Parker of Greenfield Park, Quebec had four touchdown passes, and had one rushing touchdown. The Canadian players who had a touchdown catch were Caroline Moquin-Joubert of Saint-Lambert, Quebec, Frederique Morneau of Quebec City, Quebec, Marianne Quirion of Sherbrooke, Quebec and Laura Molimard of Vaudreuil, Quebec.
In the semifinals, Canada defeated Mexico 20-6. Moquin-Joubert had two touchdowns and Alexane Fournier of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec had one touchdown.
In the men’s quarterfinals, Canada defeated American Samoa 24-14. James Drysdale of Terrebonne, Quebec and Antony Auclair of Notre-Dame-des-Pins both had two touchdowns each. Canadian quarterback Michael O’Connor of Ottawa, Ontario had three touchdown passes. After Canada lost 41-36 in the semifinals to Italy, Canada will play Mexico in Saturday’s bronze medal game of the World Flag Football Championships with an Olympic berth on the line.
