Canada qualifies for 2024 Olympics in 3×3 Women’s Basketball

Team Canada has qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in women’s 3×3 basketball. On Sunday in the last chance qualifying tournament in Debrecen, Hungary, the Canadian team comprised of Paige Crozon of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, twins Michelle and Katherine Plouffe of Edmonton, Alberta and Kacie Bosch of Lethbridge, Alberta defeated the host team from Hungary 21-10 in the bronze medal game.

Canada won their quarterfinal game earlier on Sunday by clobbering Italy 21-8. Katherine Plouffe and Crozon each led Canada with nine points. Michelle Plouffe led Canada with eight rebounds, and Bosch led Canada with two key assists. In the semifinals, Canada lost 19-18 to Spain before beating Hungary in the knockout game for an Olympic spot. Katherine Plouffe led Canada in points against Hungary with nine. Michelle Plouffe led Canada with eight rebounds and three key assists.

Canada will be joined at the Olympic Games in Paris for the women’s 3×3 basketball tournament with France, China, the United States, Spain, Germany, Australia, and Azerbaijan. The men’s 3×3 basketball tournament contains Serbia, United States, China, France, Lithuania, Poland, Latvia and the Netherlands. Canada has already qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in traditional 5×5 basketball on the women’s side and on the men’s side.
