Team Canada has improved to a record of two wins and one loss at the 2020 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Hockey Championship in Ostrava, Czech Republic. On Monday, Canada defeated Germany 4-1.

Four Canadian players recorded multi-point games in the win. Kelowna Rockets left winger and Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Nolan Foote of Kelowna, British Columbia, London Knights centre and Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Liam Foudy of Toronto, Ontario and Flint Firebirds centre and Dallas Stars prospect Ty Dellandrea of Port Perry, Ontario each registered one goal and one assist for two points. The other Canadian player with a multi-point game was Halifax Mooseheads defenseman and Detroit Red Wings prospect Jared McIsaac of Truro, Nova Scotia. The other Canadian goal scorer was Lethbridge Hurricanes defenseman and Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Calen Addison of Brandon, Manitoba.

With the win, Team Canada is actually in the driver’s seat in Group B. A win against the Czech Republic on Tuesday, and Canada will finish in first place in their pool. That could be considered quite surprising to some because they previously lost 6-0 to Russia on Saturday. However, Russia lost games to the United States and Czech Republic. In Group A, Sweden won the group with four victories.
