
Team Canada is in the semifinals of the 2025 World Men’s Curling Championships in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. On Friday, Canada trounced Austria 8-2. It was one of two dominant wins for Team Canada on Friday. In the evening draw, Canada defeated the United States 8-3.
The playoffs are now set. Canada is one of two teams that have a bye to the semifinals. The other is Switzerland. The Canadian team skipped by Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, had a round robin record of 11 wins and one loss. Their only defeat came on Monday when they were beaten 6-5 in 11 ends to Scotland. Since then, Team Canada won eight straight games.
The qualification games take place on Saturday morning. China will play Norway, and Sweden will play Scotland. The game between Sweden and Scotland is filled with a significant amount of intrigue and anticipation. The Swedes are led by skip Niklas Edin, who won the gold medal at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, and have won seven World Men’s Curling Championships. Scotland, is led by skip Bruce Mouat, who won the silver medal at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, and the gold medal at the 2023 World Men’s Curling Championships in Ottawa.
