Cam Talbot notches first shutout with the Calgary Flames

Cam Talbot of Caledonia, Ontario recorded his first shutout as a member of the Calgary Flames on Thursday. Talbot made 44 saves as the Flames beat the Anaheim Ducks 6-0 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Talbot made 12 saves in the first period, 18 saves in the second period and 14 saves in the third period. Troy Terry led the Ducks with nine shots on goal.

Offensively, the Flames had two goals each from Mark Jankowski of Hamilton, Ontario and Mikael Backlund. Other Flames with a multi-point game were Andrew Mangiapane of Bolton, Ontario and T.J. Brodie of Chatham, Ontario. Mangiapane and Brodie each notched two assists. The other Flames goal scorers were Elias Lindholm and Oliver Kylington.

Talbot now has 21 career shutouts. Twelve have come with the Edmonton Oilers, eight with the New York Rangers and now one with the Flames. In 20 National Hockey League regular season games this season, Talbot has a record of eight wins, eight regulation losses and one loss in extra time. He has one shutout, a goals against average of 2.57 and a save percentage of .924.

The Flames are currently in a three way tie for second place in the Pacific Division. The Flames, Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers all have 66 points. The Flames have a record of 30 wins, 23 losses and six losses in extra time.
