Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls. Ontario is in contention after the second round of the 2024 Meijer LPGA Classic in Belmont, Michigan. After 36 holes, Henderson is at eight-under-par and three strokes back of leaders Grace Kim of Australia and Ally Ewing of the United States, who are tied for the lead at -11.
In round one, Henderson was at five-under-par. She had two eagles, two birdies and one bogey. Henderson eagled the eighth and 18th holes, birdied the 10th and 14th holes, and bogeyed the seventh hole. In round two, Henderson had four birdies and one bogey. She birdied the seventh, eighth, 14th and 18th holes, and bogeyed the sixth hole.
There is a two-way tie for third place. Those at -9 and are two strokes back of the leaders are Denmark’s Nanna Koerstz Madsen and South Korea’s Narin An. Then there are four others who are tied at -8 with Henderson. They are South Korea’s Jin Hee Im, China’s Yan Jing, and Americans Allisen Corpuz and Lauren Hartlage.
Henderson is one of two major champions in contention. The other is Corpuz, who won the 2023 United States Women’s Open. Henderson’s major titles came at the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship and the 2022 Evian Masters.
Twice before Henderson has won the Meijer LPGA Classic. The first time came in 2017 and 2019.
