Brian Daboll of Welland, Ontario won his first National Football League playoff game as a head coach. On Sunday as the number six seed in the National Football Conference, the New York Giants defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-24 at the United States Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This was Daboll’s first season as a head coach in the NFL, and the Giants exceeded expectations. New York was expected to be one of the weaker teams in the league, but New York made the playoffs with a record of nine wins, seven losses and one tie. The Giants made the postseason by clobbering the Indianapolis Colts 38-10 on New Year’s Day.

On Sunday, it was a great game for Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. He completed 24 of 35 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns, and had 17 rushes for 78 yards.

The Giants were one of three teams from the NFC East to make the postseason. They were joined by the 14-3 Philadelphia Eagles and the 12-5 Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys have their wildcard playoff game on Monday night when they play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The fact that this game is in Tampa Bay is extremely controversial. That is because the Buccaneers had a losing record of eight wins and nine losses, but still won the NFC South.
