Two Canadians contributed to week 14 touchdowns on winning teams in the Canadian Football League on Saturday. They were Winnipeg Blue Bombers running back Brady Oliveira of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Edmonton Elks quarterback Tre Ford of Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Oliveira had a 17-yard touchdown catch from Zach Collaros in a 51-6 Blue Bombers romp over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. That was after the Roughriders beat the Blue Bombers 32-30 in overtime in Regina, Saskatchewan a week ago. In the Bombers’s blowout win, Oliveira’s touchdown came with three minutes and 30 seconds left in the first quarter. At the time, Winnipeg took a 13-3 lead. Oliveira finished the game with 18 rushes for 154 rushing yards and four catches for 57 receiving yards. On the season, Oliveira has 193 rushes for 1144 rushing yards and six touchdowns, along with 27 catches for 368 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The Blue Bombers meanwhile improve to a record of 10 wins and three losses, and lead the West Division.
Ford had a 32 yard touchdown pass to Dillon Mitchell in a 25-23 Edmonton Elks win over the Calgary Stampeders. Ford’s touchdown pass came with nine minutes and 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter. At the time, Edmonton took a 23-19 lead. Ford finished the game completing 14 of 22 passes for 173 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He also had eight rushes for 82 rushing yards. On the season, Ford has completed 68 of 97 passes for 990 passing yards, six touchdown passes and three interceptions. He also has 39 rushes for 401 rushing yards and two touchdown runs.
