
Ben Andersen of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta is continuing Canada’s great success at the 2022 Calgary Stampede in the saddle bronc competition. On Monday, Andersen posted a score of 90 points on the bronc Daunting News and in the process earned $5500.
Andersen is the second Canadian to have great success on the saddle bronc. Over the first four days of the Calgary Stampede, Zeke Thurston of Big Valley, Alberta had the highest score with $16,500. He is one of seven Canadians to have qualified for the Sunday Showdown.
In addition to Andersen, three other Canadians finished in the top four on Tuesday to begin Pool B action. Ty Taypotat of Regina, Saskatchewan finished in fourth place in the bareback, Dakota Buttar of Eatonia, Saskatchewan finished in second place in the bull riding, and Lonnie West of Cadogan, Alberta finished in third place in the bull riding.
In the bareback, Taypotat had 82 points. Rocker Steiner of Weatherford, Texas had the most points with 87.5. In the bull riding, Buttar had the second most points with 87 and West had the third most points with 83.5. Creek Young of Rogersville, Missouri had 87.5 points and was the bull riding leader.
Finally in the Rangeland Derby, Chad Fike of Cremona, Alberta had the fastest time on Tuesday of 1:12.97. Layne MacGillivray of Halkirk, Alberta is the aggregate leader with a time of 6:09.35.
