
Wyatt Johnston of Toronto, Ontario scored his first National Hockey League Stanley Cup Playoff overtime winner on Saturday. He accomplished the feat for the Dallas Stars in a 3-2 overtime winner over the Vegas Golden Knights from the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
Johnston scored the OT winner from Jason Robertson and Ryan Suter. The game-winning goal came with three minutes and 37 seconds left in the third period.
This was the first of two goals scored by Johnston in the game. Johnston’s first goal opened the scoring at 11:11 of the first period from Robertson and Miro Heiskanen.
Johnston’s goal for Dallas on Saturday led to Dallas’s first win in the series. The Golden Knights still lead the best out of seven Western Conference first round playoff series two games to one as they came through with two upset wins in Dallas. On Monday Vegas won 4-3, and on Wednesday, Vegas won by a score of 3-1.
After three games in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Johnston has two goals and one assist for three points. He is a +1 with 12 shots on goal, 18 faceoff wins, three blocked shots, four hits, two takeaways, and one giveaway. Game four of the series is Monday night back in Nevada.
