
According to Kevin Hirschfield of Global News on Friday, Winnipeg will host the 2025 Grey Cup. The game will be played at Investors Group Field. This will be the fifth time in the history of the Canadian Football League championship that the game will be played in Winnipeg. They previously hosted the game in 1991, 1998, 2006, and 2015. Past champions were the Toronto Argonauts (1991), Calgary Stampeders (1998), the British Columbia Lions (2006), and the Edmonton Eskimos (2015).
Winnipeg has represented the West Division at the last three Grey Cups. In 2019, Winnipeg beat Hamilton 33-12 in Calgary. In 2021, Winnipeg beat Hamilton 33-25 in overtime in Hamilton. In 2022, Toronto beat Winnipeg 24-23 in Regina. The 2023 Grey Cup will be in Hamilton and the 2024 Grey Cup will be in Vancouver.
In other CFL news, the Calgary Stampeders recently signed offensive lineman Jamal Campbell of Toronto, Ontario. The Stampeders will be the third team Campbell has played for following six seasons with the Toronto Argonauts from 2016 to 2021, and one season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2022. Campbell. who is 6’5″, 290 pounds, has played 71 games in the CFL over the last six seasons.
Meanwhile one significant off-season story in the CFL has been the quarterback carousel. Trevor Harris is now quarterbacking Saskatchewan after quarterbacking Montreal last year. The Alouettes signed Cody Fajardo from Saskatchewan and Caleb Jones from Ottawa. British Columbia acquired Dane Evans from Hamilton in a trade. Bo Levi Mitchell signed with Hamilton from Calgary.
