Montreal Alouettes wide receiver Tyson Philpot of Delta, British Columbia has been named the top Canadian player in the Canadian Football League in 2026 according to TSN on Thursday. Philpot was one of two Alouettes to win a major award yesterday. Davis Alexander, the Alouettes quarterback, won the CFL’s most outstanding player award.
Philpot had a sensational Canadian Football League season. He had 124 receptions for 1809 receiving yards and 13 touchdown catches. Philpot led the CFL in receptions, receiving yards and was tied for the CFL lead in touchdown catches with Alouettes wide receiver Tyler Snead.
KeeSean Johnson of the Saskatchewan Roughriders was second in the CFL with 108 receptions. Snead was second in the CFL with 1474 receiving yards.
Many believed Philpot had the opportunity to win the CFL’s most outstanding player award in 2026 too. The bottom line is that Philpot had a tremendous CFL season and earned the CFL’s version of the Triple Crown (leading the league in the three most important categories for wide receivers).
Now the focus for Philpot and the Alouettes is the Eastern Final. They are facing the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday. Montreal had the best record in the CFL this season at 14 wins and four losses for 28 points. They had two more points than the Edmonton Elks.
