
Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry of Surrey, British Columbia recorded his 13th National Hockey League shutout on Thursday. He accomplished the feat in a 2-0 Penguins win over the Nashville Predators at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. All of Jarry’s 13 career NHL shutouts have come with Pittsburgh.
Jarry had 12 saves in the first period, five saves in the second period, and 11 saves in the third period. Former Calgary Flames’s first round draft pick Mark Jankowski of Hamilton, Ontario and Kiefer Sherwood each led the Predators with three shots on goal. The Penguins meanwhile got a second period goal from Jason Zucker and a third period goal from Jake Guentzel.
In the 2022-23 NHL regular season, Jarry has a record of 22 wins, 10 regulation losses, and six losses in extra time. He also has two shutouts, a goals against average of 2.90 and a save percentage of .910. Jarry’s prior shutout this season came in a 3-0 Penguins win over the Winnipeg Jets on November 19.
With the win, the Penguins improved to a record of 37 wins, 28 regulation losses and 10 losses in extra time for 84 points. They are in a tight battle with the Florida Panthers for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Pittsburgh is eighth in the East, and have one more point than Florida.
