Tristan Jarry records 12th career NHL shutout

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry of Surrey, British Columbia recorded his 12th National Hockey League shutout on Saturday. In a 3-0 Penguins win over the Winnipeg Jets at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Jarry made 32 saves.

Jarry made 13 saves in the first period, 10 saves in the second period, and nine saves in the third period. Kyle Connor led the Jets with five shots on goal.

Two-time Canadian Olympic gold medalist Sidney Crosby of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia led the team with two points (two assists). He was one of two Penguins with a multi-point game as Bryan Rust had one goal and one assist. The other two Penguins goal scorers were Jake Guentzel and Justin Zucker. Crosby won a gold medal for Canada in men’s hockey at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

On the season, Jarry now has a record of six wins, three regulation losses, and two losses in extra time. He has a goals against average of 3.27 and a save percentage of .904. All of 12 Jarry’s career shutouts have been with the Penguins.

This was the first game of a back-to-back for the Penguins. On Sunday in Chicago, Crosby had one goal and three assists for four points in a 5-3 Pittsburgh win over the Chicago Blackhawks. He was one of three Canadians to score in the game, and one of two Canadians to have a multi-point game. The other two Canadian goal scorers were Brock McGinn of Fergus, Ontario, and Canadian Olympic gold medalist Jeff Carter of London, Ontario. Carter won a gold medal for Canada in men’s hockey at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The other Canadian with a multi-point game was Kris Letang of Montreal, Quebec, who had two assists.
