Toronto Marlies win game two of the 2026 Calder Cup

The Toronto Marlies have won game two of the 2026 Calder Cup. On Sunday from Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, the Marlies defeated the Chicago Wolves 5-4 in overtime to take a two games to none series lead in the best out of seven series.

Logan Shaw of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia was the Marlies hero in the second game of the series. He scored the game-winning goal at 3:46 of the extra period from defenseman William Villeneuve of Sherbrooke, Quebec and Vinni Lettieri.

Shaw was one of two Canadian born players to score for the Marlies in game two. Shaw actually scored two goals, and Alex Nylander of Calgary, Alberta, also scored one goal. The other Marlies goal scorer was Benoit-Olivier Groulx, who like Shaw, also scored twice.

There were two Canadian players on the Marlies who had a multi-point game. Villeneuve had three assists for three points. Villeneuve was one of two Marlies players with three points. Lettieri also had three assists.

The Calder Cup now shifts to Canada. Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario will be the host site on Tuesday and Thursday for games three and four. Toronto will also host the fifth game (if necessary) on Friday. The Marlies are now two wins away from their second Calder Cup after previously winning in 2018.
