According to cfl.ca, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed wide receiver Lemar Durant of Vancouver, British Columbia to a one-year contract on Monday. Durant will be joining his third Canadian Football League team, as he previously played four seasons with the Calgary Stampeders from 2015 to 2018, and two seasons with the British Columbia Lions from 2019 to 2020.

Durant had 24 catches for 263 yards for the Lions in 2021. For his career, he has had 183 catches for 2353 yards and 13 touchdowns in 74 games played over six CFL seasons.

The Simon Fraser University product was initially the second round pick, 18th overall, by the Stampeders in the 2015 Canadian Football League draft. While playing in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with the Clan, he set the GNAC record for most receiving touchdowns in a game with four in a 58-47 Clan win over the Dixie State Red Storm on October 27, 2012. Unlike most Canadian universities that play in USport, the Clan play in an American-based conference.

The signing of Durant comes five days after Hamilton released wide receiver Brandon Banks. In 2019, Banks was the CFL’s most outstanding player after he set the Tiger-Cats franchise record for most catches in a season with 112. That year he also had 1550 receiving yards and 13 touchdown catches. Banks then missed significant time in 2021 with a rib injury.
