Three Canadians recorded a touchdown for a winning team in the final week of the 2021 Canadian Football League regular season. They were Winnipeg Blue Bombers fullback Mike Miller of Riverview, New Brunswick, Montreal Alouettes wide receiver Kaion Julien-Grant of Toronto, Ontario, and Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Jalen Philpot of Delta, British Columbia.
Miller had two rushes for two yards, including a one-yard touchdown as the Blue Bombers defeated the British Columbia Lions 24-9 at IG Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Friday. His major score came with five minutes and 47 seconds left in the third quarter. At the time, the Blue Bombers took a 23-6 lead. This was Miller’s first rushing touchdown in 190 CFL games. With the win, Winnipeg improves to a record of 15 wins and three losses, and are the West Division champions.
Julien-Grant had four catches for 55 yards including a 31-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Dominique Davis as the Alouettes defeated the Toronto Argonauts 38-33 on Saturday. His major score came with one minute and 31 seconds left in the first quarter, and put the Alouettes up 20-7 at the time. In 2022, Julien-Grant had 36 catches for 517 yards and three touchdowns. With the win, the Alouettes finish the year at nine wins and nine losses, and will play host to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the East Division semi-final next week. The winner will play the Toronto Argonauts in the East Final.
Philpot had two catches for 12 yards including a nine-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Tommy Stevens on Saturday in a 36-10 Stampeders win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. His major score came with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter and put the Stampeders up 32-10 sat the time. In 2022, Philpot had 23 catches for 317 yards and three touchdowns. With the win, the Stampeders finish the year at 12 wins and six losses, and will play the British Columbia Lions next week. The winner will play the Blue Bombers in the West Final.
