Team Canada wins Group A of the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship

Team Canada has won Group A of the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship in Edmonton, Alberta. On Monday, Canada won their fourth straight game to remain undefeated in a 6-3 victory over Finland. ‘

Two Canadians led the team in scoring with three points each. Hamilton Bulldogs center Mason McTavish had one goal and two assists, while Olen Zellweger of Calgary, Alberta had three assists. Two other Canadians had a multi-point game. Brandon Wheat Kings and Belleville Senators left winger Ridly Greig of Lethbridge, Alberta, along with Regina Pats center Connor Bedard of North Vancouver, British Columbia each had one goal and one assist for two points. The other Canadian goal scorers were Barrie Colts center Tyson Foerster of Alliston, Ontario, Saint John Sea Dogs right winger William Dufour of Quebec City, Quebec, and left winger Brennan Othmann of Scarborough, Ontario.

With pool play wrapped up, the four quarterfinal matches are set for Wednesday. Canada will play Switzerland, the United States will play Czech Republic, Finland will play Germany and Sweden will play Latvia. Like Canada, the United States were undefeated in pool play. The Americans are the defending champions, as they were victorious last year in Edmonton. In the gold medal game, the United States beat Canada 2-0.
