Oleksiak won the gold medal in the women’s 100 metre freestyle at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and MacNeil won the gold medal in the women’s 100 metre butterfly at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021.
Canada now has 11 medals at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships–three gold medals, four silver medals and four bronze medals. The medals for McIntosh, Oleksiak, MacNeil, Masse and Nicol will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
