Steven Stamkos becomes 95th player with 1000 NHL points

Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos of Markham, Ontario became the 95th player in National Hockey League history on Thursday to record 1000 points. He accomplished the feat in a 4-1 Lightning win over the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Stamkos registered his milestone point with an assist on the game-winning goal by Nick Paul of Mississauga, Ontario. Paul scored his 11th of the season from Stamkos and Ian Cole at 7:55 of the second period which put the Lightning up 2-0 at the time.

Stamkos has 494 goals and 506 assists for 1000 points in 945 games. He is the Lightning all-time leader in goals (494), points (1000), even strength goals (301), power-play goals (188), game-winning goals (75), shooting percentage (17%), and hat tricks (10).

So far this season, Stamkos has 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points in 23 games. He is a +7 with 14 penalty minutes, 12 power-play points, two game-winning goals, 79 shots on goal, 15 blocked shots, 21 hits, eight takeaways, and 16 giveaways. The game-winning goals came in a 3-2 Lightning win over the Nashville Predators on November 19 and in a 6-5 Lightning win over the Buffalo Sabres on November 28.

The Lightning are in third place in the Atlantic Division at the moment with 29 points. They have a record of 14 wins, eight regulation losses, and one loss in extra time.
