Six Canadians competing at 2023 PGA Championship

A record six Canadians are competing at the 2023 PGA Championship in Rochester, New York starting Thursday. That is the most number of Canadians participating at a single PGA Championship. It also ties the record for the most number of Canadians competing in a major in men’s golf. There were six Canadians at the 2022 United States Open in Boston, Massachusetts.

The six Canadians at the Oak Hill Country Club in Pittsford, New York are Corey Conners of Listowel, Ontario, Mackenzie Hughes of Hamilton, Ontario, Adam Hadwin of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Adam Svensson of Surrey, British Columbia, Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ontario. All six Canadians qualified by being in the top 70 on the PGA Tour money list over the last year.

Conners, Svensson and Hughes also qualified by winning a PGA tournament in the last year. Conners won the 2023 Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. Svensson won the 2022 RSM Classic in St. Simons Island, Georgia, and Hughes won the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi.

The six Canadians competing at the 2022 United States Open were Conners, Taylor, Hughes, Hadwin, Roger Sloan of Calgary, Alberta and Ben Silverman of Thornhill, Ontario. The top Canadian was Hadwin in seventh place at -1.
