
Ryan O’Reilly of Clinton, Ontario collected his sixth career National Hockey League hat trick on Saturday. The Nashville Predators centre accomplished the feat in a 4-1 Predators win over the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta.
O’Reilly opened the scoring at 4:21 of the second period on the power-play. Fedor Svechkov and Fillip Forsberg had the assists. O’Reilly then put the Predators up 2-0 at 11:37 of the second period on the power-play with a game-winning goal. Jonathan Marchessault of Cap-Rouge, Quebec and Forsberg had the assists. O’Reilly closed out the scoring into an empty net with one minute and 27 seconds left in the third period on an all-Canadian goal. Steven Stamkos of Markham, Ontario and Colton Sissons of North Vancouver, British Columbia had the assists.
This was O’Reilly’s second hat trick with the Predators. The first came on November 4, 2023 in a 5-2 Predators win over the Edmonton Oilers. O’Reilly also had three hat tricks with the St. Louis Blues (on November 6, 2018 in a 4-1 Blues win over the Carolina Hurricanes, on April 9, 2021 in a 9-1 Blues win over the Minnesota Wild, and on April 24, 2021 in a 5-3 Blues win over the Colorado Avalanche), and one with the Toronto Maple Leafs (on February 21, 2023 in a 6-3 Maple Leafs win over the Buffalo Sabres).
In 37 games this season, O’Reilly has 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points. He is a -14 with 11 penalty minutes, nine power-play points, three game-winning goals, 68 shots on goal, 343 faceoff wins, 34 blocked shots, 13 hits, 15 takeaways and 28 giveaways.
