Robert Thomas records second career NHL hat trick

St. Louis Blues centre Robert Thomas of Aurora, Ontario recorded his second career National Hockey League hat trick on Thursday. He accomplished the feat in a 5-3 Blues win over the Utah Mammoth at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Thomas’s first goal of the game tied the game at two at 8:14 of the second period. Dylan Holloway of Calgary, Alberta had the lone assist. Thomas then put the Blues up 3-2 at 11:07 of the second period from defenseman Cam Fowler and Holloway. Thomas’s hat trick came with 38 seconds left in the third period to close out the scoring. Jimmy Snuggerud and defenseman Philip Broberg had the assists.

Thomas was one of two Canadians to have a multi-point game for the Blues in the win. The other was Holloway, who had two assists. Thomas was one of two Canadians to score for the Blues. The other was defenseman Logan Mailloux of Belle River, Ontario, who scored his first career game-winning goal.

Thomas’s first career game-winning goal came on April 5 in a 3-2 Blues win over the Colorado Avalanche. For the season, Thomas had 25 goals and 39 assists for 64 points in 64 games. He was a +22 with 24 penalty minutes, 14 power-play points, three shorthanded points, four game-winning goals, 102 shots on goal, a NHL-high 24.5 shooting percentage, 547 faceoff wins, 40 blocked shots, 10 hits, 31 takeaways and 96 giveaways.
