Oilers tie second round playoff series with Canucks at one

The Edmonton Oilers are now tied with the Vancouver Canucks at one game apiece in the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs. On Friday evening at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Oilers defeated the Canucks 4-3 in overtime.

The Oilers overtime winner was scored by Evan Bouchard of Oakville, Ontario. Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario and Leon Draisaitl picked up the assists. For Bouchard, it was his first Stanley Cup Playoff overtime winner, and fourth career postseason game-winning goal. Bouchard’s three prior postseason game-winning goals came in a 5-1 Oilers win over the Vegas Golden Knights in game two of the second round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs (Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby, British Columbia and Zach Hyman of Toronto had the assists), in a 4-1 Oilers win over the Golden Knights in game four of the second round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs (McDavid and Nugent-Hopkins had the assists), and in a 1-0 Oilers win over the Los Angeles Kings in game four of the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs (Draisaitl and McDavid had the assists).

In the Oilers win over the Canucks on Friday, two Oilers had four point games. McDavid and Draisaitl each had one goal and three assists for four points. The other Oilers goal scorer was defenseman Mattias Ekholm. Game three is Sunday.
