Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba has won the 2024 Waste Management Phoenix Open. On Sunday, Taylor shot a four-round score of -21 and then beat Charley Hoffman of the United States in a playoff.
Taylor had a first round score of eleven-under-par 60, a second round score of one-under-par 70, a third round score of three-under-par 68, and a fourth round score of six-under-par 65. In the third round, Taylor had five birdies and two bogeys. He birdied the fifth, 11th, 13th, 15th, and 17th holes, and bogeyed the seventh and ninth holes. In the fourth round, Taylor had six birdies and zero bogeys. He birdied the sixth, seventh, ninth, 15th, 16th, and 18th holes.
In the playoff, Taylor and Hoffman both birdied the first playoff hole. In the second hole, Taylor birdied and Hoffman settled for par.
It was a fantastics start to the tournament for Taylor as he let his competitors back in after an ordinary second round. However, Taylor came up clutch with key shots on Sunday, and definitely had the momentum heading into the playoff.
This is the fourth PGA Title for Taylor. He won the 2014 Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi, the 2020 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and the 2023 Royal Bank of Canada Canadian Open.
