Nick Taylor in contention at 2026 PGA Championship

Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba is in contention at the 2026 PGA Championship from Philadelphia, the second men’s major in golf’s calendar for the year. Taylor is currently in second place at -4, and is two strokes back of the leader, Alex Smalley of the United States.

Taylor was in contention after round one, as he shot a first round score of -1, and was only two shots back of the leaders. However, Taylor moved to +1 on Friday after shooting a second round score of +2. Taylor’s third round score of 65 was tied for the best Saturday score of the tournament. The others to shoot -5 were Germany’s Matti Schmid, England’s Justin Rose Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan, and American Chris Kirk.

In the second round on Friday, Taylor had two bogeys and zero birdies. He bogeyed the eighth and 18th holes. In the third round on Saturday, Taylor had five birdies and zero bogeys. He birdied the third, sixth, ninth, 14th, and 16th holes.

Taylor is in a five-way tie for second place at -4. The other golfers two strokes back are England’s Aaron Rai, Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg, Spain’s Jon Rahm and Schmid. There is also three-way tie at -3. Those three strokes back are Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, along with Americans Patrick Reed, Xander Schauffele and Maverick McNealy.
