Mitch Marner and Shea Theodore shine as Golden Knights win game three of 2026 Stanley Cup Finals

Mitch Marner of Markham, Ontario and Shea Theodore of Langley, British Columbia had a memorable game three in the 2026 National Hockey League Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. Marner recorded his second career NHL playoff hat trick (and sixth overall), and Theodore scored his second career NHL playoff overtime winner as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4. With the win, the Golden Knights lead the best out of seven series two games to one.

Marner scored all three of the Golden Knights goals in the second period. He first put the Golden Knight up 2-0 at 10:42 of the second period from Theodore and William Karlsson. Marner then put the Golden Knights up 3-0 at 14:32 of the second period from defenseman Brayden McNabb of Davidson, Saskatchewan, and then recorded the hat trick at 16:52 of the second period from Tomas Hertl to put the Golden Knights up 4-0. Marner also had a NHL postseason hat trick on May 8, 2026 in a 6-2 Golden Knights win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Theodore’s overtime winner came from McNabb and Brett Howden of Calgary, Alberta on an all-Canadian goal at 5:38 of double overtime. He also scored the overtime winner for Vegas on April 27, 2026 in a 5-4 Golden Knights win over the Utah Mammoth.
