Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec won the gold medal in a men’s dual moguls event in Deer Valley, Utah on Saturday. For Kingsbury, it was his 78th gold medal and 112th medal overall. Kingsbury has won 28 World Cup silver medals and six World Cup bronze medals.

Kingsbury, who won the gold medal in men’s moguls at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, beat silver medalist Matt Graham of Australia 34-1 in the Big Final in Deer Valley. Walter Wallberg of Sweden won the bronze medal when Yutaro Murata did not start the men’s small final. Murata was also unable to finish the first semifinal, which was won by Graham.

In the fifth of eight round of 16 matchups, Kingsbury defeated Albin Holmgren of Sweden, who was unable to finish. In the third quarterfinal heat, Kingsbury’s opponent, William Feneley of Great Britain, was unable to finish either. In the semifinals, Kingsbury beat Wallberg 27-8.

Kingsbury now moves into first place in the dual moguls World Cup standings with 282 points. Wallberg is second with 265 points. This is Kingsbury’s second World Cup dual moguls gold medal this season. The first came in Idre Fjall, Sweden on December 11, 2022. The gold medal for Kingsbury will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
