
Maude-Aimee Leblanc of Sherbrooke, Quebec is in contention at the 2023 Los Angeles Open. The 34-year-old is at -8 after two rounds on the weekend’s LPGA Tour event, and in fourth place.
Leblanc shot a round of four-under-par on Thursday in round one and again on Friday in round two. In round one, Leblanc had seven birdies and three bogeys. She birdied the seven, seventh, ninth, 10th, 11th, 15th and 17th holes, and bogeyed the first, fifth, and 12th holes. In round two, Leblanc once again had seven birdies and three bogeys. She birdied the first, second, fourth, fifth, eighth, 12th, and 17th holes, and bogeyed the 11th, 13th, and 14th holes.
Ruoning Yin of China and 2014 Evian Championship winner Hyo-joo Kim of South Korea are tied for the lead at -10. Nasa Hataoka of Japan, the defending champion, is alone in third place at -9. Meanwhile, there are two Americans tied for fifth place at -7. There you can find Lilia Vu and Megan Khang.
Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario won the 2021 Los Angeles Open with a tournament-record score of -16. There she beat Jessica Korda of the United States by a stroke.
This is the second straight week a Canadian has been in contention on the LPGA Tour. Last week Maddie Szeryk of London, Ontario was in contention all weekend long at the Drive On Championship in Grand Canyon, Arizona.
