
Canadian Olympic gold medalist Marc-Andre Fleury of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec became the third National Hockey League goaltender ever to record 500 wins on Thursday. He did it on a night when he recorded his 69th career shutout in his home province of Quebec–in a 2-0 Chicago Blackhawks victory over the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre.
Fleury, who won a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, made 12 saves in the first period, six saves in the second period, and 12 saves in the third period. Jonathan Drouin of Ste-Agathe, Quebec, and Ben Chiarot of Hamilton, Ontario led the Canadiens with four shots on goal each.
Canadian Olympic gold medalist Jonathan Toews of Winnipeg, Manitoba scored the game-winning goal at 13:48 of the second period on the power play from Seth Jones and Patrick Kane. Toews won the gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
Canadian Olympic gold medalist Martin Brodeur of Montreal, Quebec, is first all-time in NHL wins with 691. Brodeur won the gold medal for Canada at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City and the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Patrick Roy of Quebec City, Quebec is second all-time in wins with 551.
