Logan Thompson records third career NHL shutout

Logan Thompson of Calgary, Alberta notched his third career National Hockey League shutout on Friday. He made 29 saves as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Anaheim Ducks 4-0 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. Thompson had six saves in the first period, 12 saves in the second period, and 11 saves in the third period.

On the season, Thompson now has a record of four wins and two losses with a goals against average of 1.69 and a save percentage of .943. Thompson’s previous shutout this season came in a 1-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on October 13. His two shutouts lead the NHL.

This is Thompson’s third NHL season with the Golden Knights. Last season he collected his first NHL shutout as he made 22 saves in a 3-0 win over the Seattle Kraken on March 30, 2022.

From an offensive perspective on Friday, three Canadians scored for the Golden Knights. They were Chandler Stephenson of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, right winger Reilly Smith of Mimico, Ontario, and Nicolas Roy of Amos, Quebec. Stephenson scored the game-winning goal, while Smith scored shorthanded.

With the win, the Golden Knights improved to a record of seven wins and two losses for 14 points. They have the most points in the Western Conference, and second most points in the NHL. Only the Boston Bruins with 16 points have more points than Vegas.
