The London Knights were dominant in the first two games of the Ontario Hockey League Final. They beat the Oshawa Generals 8-1 in game one and 9-1 in game two. However in game three in Oshawa, the Knights won a different way. London was down 6-2 heading into the third period, when they had a comeback for the ages. London scored four unanswered third period goals before winning 7-6 in double overtime to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the J.Ross Robertson Cup.
In the Knights third period comeback, Kasperi Halttunen scored twice, while Oliver Bonk of Ottawa, Ontario, and Sam O’Reilly each scored once. Bonk and right winger Easton Cowan of Mount Brydges, Ontario each assisted on the two third period goals by Halttunen. Then after no goals were scored in the first overtime period, (even though 12 goals were scored in regulation time), the Knights won the game at the two minute mark of the second overtime period. Henry Brzustewicz scored from Isaiah George of Oakville, Ontario, and Halttunen to break the 6-6 deadlock.
The Knights are one of two teams currently leading their respective series 3-0. In the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League Final, the Drummondville Voltiguers are one win away from sweeping Baie-Comeau Drakkar. In two of the wins, Riley Mercer of Bay Roberts, Newfoundland had two shutouts, and Alexis Gendron of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec had a game one hat trick.
