According to Sean Leahy of Yahoo! Sports on Saturday, Canadian RJ Barrett of Toronto, Ontario is joining the Toronto Raptors. In a blockbuster National Basketball Association deal, Barrett, a shooting guard, was traded alongside guard Immanuel Quickley and a second round draft pick in the 2024 NBA Draft for small forward OG Anunoby, point guard Malachi Flynn, and center Precious Achiuwa.
The addition of Barrett is significant for the Raptors franchise. He was selected as the third overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Barrett was only selected Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans and Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies.
In 2023-24, Barrett is averaging 18.2 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, and 2.4 assists per game. He has a field goal percentage of .423, three-point percentage of .331, and a free throw percentage of .831.
Quickley should also be a strong asset. He is averaging 15 points per game, 2.6 rebounds per game, 2.5 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of .454, three-point percentage of .395, and free throw percentage of .872.
Anunoby was part of the Raptors team that won the 2019 NBA Finals. He led the NBA last season with 1.9 steals per game. In 2023-24, Anunoby averaged 15.1 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game, one steal per game, a field goal percentage of .489, three-point percentage of .374 and free throw percentage of .717.
