Carolina Hurricanes captain and centre Jordan Staal of Thunder Bay, Ontario set the Hurricanes franchise record for most goals in a playoff series with six according to TSN. He accomplished the feat on Thursday in a 4-2 Hurricanes win over the Vegas Golden Knights in game five of the 2026 Stanley Cup Final from the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jari Kurri of the Edmonton Oilers has the National Hockey League record for most goals in a playoff series with 12. He accomplished the feat in six games in the 1985 Western Conference Finals against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Staal set the Hurricanes record at 11:46 of the first period from Seth Jarvis of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Nikolai Ehlers. At the time, Staal tied the game at one. Staal has a goal in every game of the series, including two goals on Tuesday, in a 5-3 Hurricanes win over the Vegas Golden Knights in game four of the series.

Interestingly, Staal was one of five players to have the old Hurricanes franchise record for most goals in a playoff series with five. He accomplished the feat in the 2009 Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the New Jersey Devils. The other four Hartford Whalers/Hurricanes players to have five goals in a playoff series were Mark Hunter of Petrolia, Ontario in the 1991 Adams Division semifinals against the Boston Bruins, Ray Sheppard of Pembroke, Ontario in the 1999 Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the Bruins, Sebastian Aho in the 2021 Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the Nashville Predators and Andrei Svechnikov in the 2025 Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the New Jersey Devils.

In 18 playoff games, Staal has eight goals and four assists for 12 points. He is a +6 with 13 penalty minutes, four power-play points, one game-winning goal, one shorthanded point, 35 shots on goal, 221 faceoff wins, nine blocked shots, 84 hits, three takeaways, and 13 giveaways.
