James Reimer of Morweena, Manitoba recorded his 27th National Hockey League career shutout on Monday. He made 26 saves as the San Jose Sharks beat the Seattle Kraken 4-0 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
Reimer made six saves in the first period, eight saves in the second period, and 12 saves in the third period. Jared McCann of Stratford, Ontario led the Kraken with five shots on goal.
Offensively, two Canadians on the Sharks scored in the game. They were Logan Couture of Guelph, Ontario, and Noah Gregor of Beaumont, Alberta. Both goals came in the second period. Couture had a multi-point game as he added an assist. The other Sharks goal scorers were Evgeny Svechnikov and Michael Eyssimont.
Of Reimer’s 27 shutouts in his career, six have been with the Sharks. Eleven shutouts have come with the Toronto Maple Leafs, seven shutouts were with the Florida Panthers, and three shutouts were with the Carolina Hurricanes.
In 29 games this season, Reimer has a record of nine wins, 14 regulation losses, and six losses in extra time. He had two shutouts with a goals against average of 3.20 and a save percentage of .898. Reimer’s other shutout this season came in a 3-0 Sharks win over the Philadelphia Flyers on October 23, 2022.
